"Despite the increased proportion of women entering medical training, women are still under-represented in academic medicine. Although women are more likely than men to choose an academic career, women physicians’ advancement is slower than that of their men colleagues. We explored the individual,institutional and societal factors that contribute to this phenomenon. Most of our evidence came from North American literature, and might differ from experiences elsewhere that have not been reported as widely..."
